Buccaclean^® has been awarded the VOHC^® Accepted Seal in the Helps Control Plaque claim category — meaning a recognised independent body has reviewed the evidence and accepted the plaque-control claim. The formulation combines an enzymatic complex (amyloglucosidase and glucose oxidase, peroxidases naturally present in saliva) with bromelain, antibiofilm polysaccharides (rhamnose, glucose, glucuronic acid) that block bacterial adhesion, and liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) for a soothing effect on the gums. Plaque-control efficacy was assessed in a 30-day, 32-dog study where the gel was applied once daily with no mechanical brushing (Gawor JP et al., 30th EVDF, Krakow, 2023).
